Center for multimedia technologies (CMIT) in SIAT mainly focuses on the research and develops in the areas of computer vision, image processing, pattern recognition, voice processing and machine learning. Director of CMIT is Prof. Tang Xiaoou, a world renowned expert in computer vision. The research group includes members of “The Recruitment Program of Global Experts” (千人计划), “Hundred Talents Program” (百人计划) and “Shenzhen Distinguished Youth” (深圳杰青). All the core members have overseas experience in famous universities or research institutions. CMIT have more than 20 research projects, including more than 10 projects from Natural Science Foundation of China.

In 2016, our team has been granted 9 new projects from Ministry of Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and local governments. Our team also has new industrial projects from Huawei, Haier etc. We also achieved the winner place in the following international challenges, including LSUN large scale scene classification task, ChaLearn Gender Smile and Accessories Classification tasks, ActivityNet Untrimmed Video Classification task associated with CVPR 2016.
