LI Qinglan

Qinglan Li is now a Professor and Ph.D. Supervisor of Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. She obtained her bachelor degree from Tianjin University in 1992. Qinglan had worked in Shenzhen for more than 10 years before she continued to pursue her master degree in McGill University, Canada, majoring in Environmental Engineering. After she obtained her master degree in 2006, Qinglan continued her PhD study in the University of Hong Kong, majoring in Environmental Engineering. Qinglan got her PhD degree in 2010. After graduation, she joined in AECOM, Asia, working as a senior Environmental Consultant. She took part in several climate change projects invested by Asia Developing Bank during her working in AECOM. In October, 2011, she joined in Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Science (SIAT).  

 

Dr. Li’s current research interest includes quantitatively forecast of wind and rainfall induced by landfalling and offshore tropical cyclones; tropical cyclones’ intensity forecast; interpretation of numerical models; ensemble forecast system; global and regional climate change; Teleconnection between ENSO and regional climate. Qinglan has taken charge of several provincial and municipal research projects in the area of severe weather forecast. She has published around 30 journal and conference papers. 

Dr. Li’s research work about quantitative wind and rainfall estimation due to tropical cyclones has been incorporated into the Tropical Cyclones Integrated Operational Platform of Shenzhen Meteorology Bureau, and has been frequently used in the meteorological information bulletin and weather consultation during typhoon season. Dr. Li was honored as excellent employee for three consecutive years from 2014-2016 in SIAT. She won the Innovation Award for SIAT’s ten years construction. She was the competition winner of excellent paper for 2014 Guangdong Meteorological yearly meeting.
