Pheng Ann Heng, PhD, professor, and director of Centre for Human-Computer Interaction. He received his M.Sc (Comp. Science), M. Art (Applied Math) and Ph.D. (Comp. Science) all from the Indiana University of USA in 1987, 1988, 1992 respectively.  He is a professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He has served as the Director of Virtual Reality, Visualization and Imaging Research Centre at CUHK since 1999. In the capacity of project coordinator, he has received over HK$24 millions funding mainly from Hong Kong Research Grants Council and Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Commission. His research interests include computer-aided medicine, the application of virtual reality to medicine, interactive scientific computing and visualization, 3D medical imaging, 3D user interface and interactive graphics. He has published more than 200 papers and received the IEEE Transactions on Multimedia Prize Paper Award in 2005.

Jing Qin, PhD, associate professor, and deputy director of Centre for Human-Computer Interaction. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 2009. He joined the National University of Singapore from 2009 to 2010 and the Chinese University of Hong Kong from 2010 to 2012 as a postdoctoral fellow, respectively. His research interests include virtual reality technology, virtual surgery, medical image processing, biomechanical modeling, multi-sensory human-computer interaction. He has published more than 60 papers in international conferences, journals and as a book chapter, such as IEEE Transactions on Information Technology in Biomedicine, IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, IEEE Computer Graphics & Applications, MICCAI, RSNA, and received the Best Paper Award Nomination of the 40th International Simulation & Games Association Conference. He received CUHK Global Scholarship Program for Research Excellence in 2008 and Hong Kong Medical and Health Device Industries Association Student Research Award in 2009, respectively. He participated in several virtual surgery related scientific research projects. He aslo served as reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Information Technology in Biomedicine, MICCAI and other famous international journals and conferences.

Jianying Li, research assistant. He graduated from Information Engineering College of Qingdao University with a bachelor’ degree of engineering in 2005, and received a master’ degree of engineering from Computer School of Shandong University in 2009. His research interest lies in supercomputing cluster.

Ping Liu, research assistant. She got her B.E. Degree in 2007 and M.E. Degree in 2010 in Biomedical Engineering from Chongqing University. She participated the 863 Project “Research of Gas Monitoring System Based on Porphyrin-based Chemical Sensor” and National Natural Science Foundation "The Algorithm Research of the 3D Cardiac Twisting Motion for Ultrasonic and MRI Image". Her current research is focused on GPU general computing and image processing.
