Call for 2025 SIAT International Young Scholars Summer School 

In the summer of 2025, Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT), CAS invites young scientific and technological talents from around the world to join our International Young Scholars Summer School (IYSSS)! You will discuss current scientific and technological developments with world-class scientists, visit global high-tech enterprises, and experience the unique charm of the Chinese culture. This program plans to recruit 20-30 young international scholars with academic backgrounds in Biology, Computer Science, Control Science and Engineering, Chemistry and Materials, and Biomedical Engineering. We look forward to meet you in Shenzhen!

June 23rd (Mon.) - June 28th (Sat.), 2025

III. Fees & Expenses

1. Tuition fee: Waived.

2. Travel expenses: Students will pay for their own travel expenses to Shenzhen.

3. Accommodation and meals: Provided by SIAT.

4. Medical insurance: Medical Insurance will be purchased for participants during the program by SIAT. 

IV. Eligibility

1. Foreign nationals or residents of Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, China.

2. Current master’s students or young scholars who have obtained a master's degree within the past 2 years and under 30 years old. Senior undergraduate students with outstanding performance and strong research ability will also be considered.

3. Major: biology, computer science, control science and engineering, chemistry and materials, biomedical engineering and other relevant majors.

4. Academic Performance: bachelor’s and master’s GPA should be 3.0 / 4.0 and above.

5. English Proficiency: Non-English natives and the medium of instruction of the previous degree was not English are required to provide any of the following English proof: IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 80.

6. Candidates with relevant research experience, academic paper publications, and those interested in pursuing a PhD degree at SIAT will be given priority consideration.

3. Application Submission: Please scan the QR code below to fill out the application questionnaire and upload materials required. If you are unable to fill out the questionnaire properly, please email the above materials to international.edu@siat.ac.cn (If the questionnaire has been submitted successfully, then no need to send emails).

4. Application result: SIAT will select participants based on the applications, and the final results will be notified to the applicants before May 25th, 2025.

Introduction to SIAT

As a national research institute in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT),  Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was jointly established by CAS, the Shenzhen municipal government and the Chinese University of Hong Kong in February 2006.

SIAT has focused on three main directions: medical imaging equipment and scientific instruments, synthetic biology and biological manufacturing, and integrated circuit materials and packaging, as well as five emerging directions: brain computer interfaces and intelligent systems, brain analysis and primate models, medical devices and medical equipment, intelligent medicine and health data, , and advanced materials and carbon neutrality.

Focusing on scientific research, SIAT has established a micro collaborative innovation ecosystem that integrates scientific research, industry, and talents, and has produced a large number of key, original, and leading scientific and technological achievements over the past 19 years. SIAT has undertaken various types of funding exceeding 25 billion yuan, and our staff and students have published over 20000 papers, applied 16000 patents, including over 3000 PCT patents, with a conversion rate of 27.5%. We have jointly established 260 innovative teams with enterprises, with a cooperation amount exceeding 1.7 billion yuan, effectively solving scientific and technological problems in industry, gaining recognition from various sectors at home and abroad, and demonstrating the characteristics and vitality of new scientific research institutions.
