Research areas in the Functional Thin Films Research Center (FTFRC) include functional thin film materials, new energy storage materials and two-dimensional materials. To date, the group has published over 40 papers in the SCI journals, including Adv. Mater.，Adv. Energy Mater.，Nano Lett.，J.Colloid Interface Sci.，Thin Solid Film， Small，J. Mater. Chem. A，Nanoscale，ACS Appl. Mater. Inter., Adv. Sci.，Adv. Mater. Interfaces, etc. In addition, over 90 patents has been filed，including 25 PCT patents.
FTFRC introduced Prof. Chun-Sing Lee from the City University of Hong Kong as the leader for Guangdong Innovative Entrepreneurial Teams titled "Advanced Functional Thin Film Materials and its Industrialization Application". The center has successively undertaken more than 30 project funded by the Country, the Chinese academy of sciences, Shenzhen city, Guangdong province and enterprises, and the total funds are over RMB 50 million.
