Laboratory for Engineering and Scientific Computing (LESC) is a leading laboratory on high performance numerical computing and its research covers areas including aerospace engineering, high-speed rail technologies, computational hemodynamics, environmental fluid dynamics, etc. Equipped with the latest supercomputing technologies, LESC aims to carry out fundamental research in parallel algorithm development for partial differential equation and also to develop practical software for solving engineering problems on large-scale supercomputers with tens of thousands or even millions of processor cores.
The LESC team consists of junior and senior scientists and engineers, post-doctoral associates, graduate students, as well as short- and long-term visiting scholars with a wide range of backgrounds in applied mathematics, computational physics, biomechanical engineering, parallel computing, and software engineering. Members of LESC have received honors as National Thousand Talent Scholars, and Shenzhen Peacock Program Awards. LESC has been funded by National Science Foundation of China, State Ministry of Science and Technology of China, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shenzhen Municipal Science and Technology Innovation Council, and private industries.
