School of Computer Science and Control Engineering

Introduction

The School of Computer Science and Control Engineering (SCSCE) in Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology is constructed based on Institute of Advanced Computing and Digital & Engineering and Institute of Advanced Integration Technology. Its mission is to play key roles in the ongoing construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.  

It has 5 departments: Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Department of Intelligence Science and Technology, Department of Robotics and Automation, Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, as well as Department of Computational Biology and Health Informatics. SCSCE is committed to contributing to the development of the world-class research university. The global cutting-edge technologies or those matching national strategic needs would be our research directions.  

Our research areas include but not limited to: Computer Vision, Deep Learning, Computational Mathematics, Computer Architecture, Cloud Computing, Big Data, Information Security, Natural Language Processing, Computer Networks, Software Engineering, Computing Finance, Bioinformatics, Healthcare Informatics, Big Data in Health Science, Epidemiology, Clinical Epidemiology, Biostatistics, General Public Health, Quantum Computing, Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Systems, Electronic Components, Photoelectron, Optical Engineering, Computer Chip, Human-Computer Interaction, Intelligent Robotics, Automatic Control Engineering, Precision Engineering, Multimedia Technology, Computer Graphics, Electronic Information, Remote Sensing and GIS, etc.

Position 1: Department Chair

Qualifications:

Applicants should have served as tenured professor (or equivalent) at a world-class university/research institute, or have served as professor in a renowned university/ research institute in Chinese Mainland, or have been selected in major talent programs. Work experience serving as department chair or above is preferred;

Have ability to lead the development of the related discipline and promote inter-disciplinary research;

Have research accomplishments with great international influence.

Position 2: Chair Professor, Professor  

Qualifications:  

Applicants should have served as tenured professor (or equivalent) at a world-class university/research institute, or have served as professor in a renowned university/ research institute in Chinese Mainland, or have been selected in major talent programs;  

Have ability to lead the development of the related discipline and promote inter-disciplinary research;   

Have research accomplishments with great international influence.  

Position 3: Associate Professor  

Qualifications:  

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. of a world-class university/ research institute, or have been selected in major talent programs. And have worked as associate professor or assistant professor for more than 3 years;   

Have innovative and pioneering research in academic foreland and have accomplishments with international influence. If the applicant’s recent achievements are outstanding enough, the requirement on work experience is negotiable;  

Have ability to research independently, teach classes and train postgraduates.  

Position 4: Assistant Professor  

Qualifications:  

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. of a world-class university/ research institute, or have been selected in major talent programs. Work experience in a renowned institute as assistant professor or postdoctoral fellow is preferred;  

Display potential for outstanding achievements in both research and teaching;  

Have ability to research independently, teach classes and train postgraduates.  

   

Salary and Benefits  

1. Globally competitive (no lower than that in prestigious HK universities) salary is offered, and outstanding applicants could be negotiated case by case. Genuine talent is valued, and restrictions over academic titles and ages could be flexible.  

2. Research start-up fund will be provided according to actual needs, and working facilities and environment will be supported to promote the commercialization of scientific and research findings.  

3. SCSCE will help build the research team with a reasonable structure, consisting of associate professors, research associates, post-doctoral fellows, and research assistants. And the team members can be jointly employed by SCSCE and Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
